In 1963, John Chupek and Austin Beasley formed a partnership in Fairhope, AL to provide quality collision repair work to the community. In a small, dimly lit building on Bancroft Street, now Mannich’s Real Estate, they opened Fairhope Paint & Body Shop. Very soon afterwards, they could see the need of a larger facility laid out for body repairs. They did not have to look far, as they soon constructed a new building on Morphy Ave. about ½ block from the original site. John and Austin remained partners for nine years until Austin returned to farming. John and his wife Helen continued to perform collision repairs until 1972 when they partnered once again with Sid, their son.

John and Helen retired in 1988 and today, Sid and his wife Linda own Fairhope Paint & Body Shop, Inc.

In 1990, Sid and Linda leased a dealership body shop at Chris Myers Pontiac, Nissan, and GMC where he stayed until 1997. This was the beginning of multi-shop ownership in the corporation. Sid has been recognized as one of the very first owners in the southwestern Alabama region to venture into multi-locations. The relationship with the Chris Myers Automotive team helped to bring the dealership overall Customer Satisfaction Index level to an extremely high level and has been instrumental in keeping it there. Mr. Myers had a great opportunity to add to his ever-growing dealership by adding the Chrysler carline. In doing so, more service department space would be needed, thus the body shop was not able to stay at this location.

In the spring of 1993, Sid and Linda opened a third shop (the first owner in the South-Alabama area to do so), Jubilee Paint & Body Shop. Managed by their son, Chad, Jubilee is staffed by 10 full time employees. Jubilee has managed to become one of the area’s premier collision repair facilities, earning the I-CAR Gold Class certification, having ASE certified employees, gaining factory approved certification from several manufacturers and always putting the best interest of their customers first. In March 1998, a major renovation of the front offices was completed. This new look was different than anyone had seen before, drawing comments still today that “It looks like a lawyers office” or “Was this a bank at one time?” Jubilee was the first shop in Baldwin County to perform unitized body and frame repairs using a computerized measuring system. To enhance the shop quality even farther, a CSI (customer satisfaction index) report is generated monthly from an independent, outside firm to measure the shop’s success with its customers. The 2003 average was 98.7!

In January 1997, Sid and Linda opened their fourth store on Highway 59 in Gulf Shores, AL. At 15,000 square feet, this marked the largest independent body shop built in Baldwin County at that time. The new shop at Gulf Shores also gave birth to the “new age” in collision repair centers in the area: an impressive front entrance; a warm, customer friendly office and separate departments for sheet metal repairs and refinishing. Managed by David Chapman, Gulf Shores is staffed by 7 full time employees. Being at the heart and soul of one of the Gulf Coast’s hot spots for tourism, Gulf Shores Collision has helped many, many people in a desperate and frustrating time when their vehicle is damaged in a collision while trying to enjoy a vacation. Repair time- frames must be accelerated in order to put out-of-town customers back on the road as soon as possible.

We have come full circle!
In 1963, the original Fairhope Paint and Body Shop was opened.

In May 2001, ground was broken on a new facility for Fairhope Paint and Body Shop, just 2 miles east of the original location on Greeno Road. Many hours of design work went into the newest facility that Fairhope Paint and Body has to offer its customers. With the help of PPG in Atlanta, an efficient layout began to take shape over a period of six months ending in October 2001 with a beautiful building that now lends itself as an example of quality that the City of Fairhope has long been known for. The facility houses over 15,000 square feet under roof. Currently, the Fairhope location is still managed by its owner, Sid. There is a full time staff of eight. The office area is very plush, creating a comfortable atmosphere for customers while waiting to be served. The “penny-arcade” antiques that are in Sid’s office amuse many customers. Customers are even more impressed when they see the final results of the repair work on their vehicle.

Now it seems to be changing even more rapidly than before. All three locations now have clean, late model cars that are loaned to customers free of charge. The location at Fairhope has earned its I-CAR Gold Class Certification. We are continuing to support our respective communities in school activities and civic organizations.

Join us now as we take you on a tour of our facilities. Thanks for taking the time to see why we are Baldwin County's Premier Collision Repair Team! We look forward to hearing from you.
